Fuel
Predicting fatigue for Multiple Sclerosis patients
Intro
Fuel is a design thinking project developed under the Sugar Network for Design & Innovation. The goal was to help multiple sclerosis patients better manage their limited daily energy and plan activities according to predicted fatigue levels.

Process
Through literature research we identified five physiological parameters strongly correlated with fatigue in multiple sclerosis patients. These parameters were collected using a smartwatch and a companion mobile application.
An algorithm was trained to recognize patterns between physiological signals and fatigue events, enabling the system to predict when a user was likely to experience fatigue.
Outcome
Fuel allows patients to better allocate their energy across daily activities by predicting fatigue before it occurs. The system was developed using data collected from 30 patients over the course of one month.
